Principal's Report
Robotics Competition Day
I had the very great pleasure of accompanying Mr Ryan and a group of our Lego Robotics students to the Robotics Competition last Saturday.
Teams had been given the challenge prior to the event to create a Lego robot using Mindstorm EV3 equipment. This Robot then needed to be programmed to undertake a series of challenges.
16 teams of students aged 11-16 competed on the day. Each team had 3 opportunities to complete as many challenges as possible in just 2 minutes 30 seconds, earning points for tasks completed and losing points for hitting obstacles or needing to retrieve their robot from the board. Importantly teams were also awarded points for how they worked as a team, supported each other, showed resilience and demonstrated respect towards other teams and coaches.
An enormous thank you to Mr Ryan for giving up his Saturday to accompany the team and also for his great coaching and mentorship
