Principal's Report 10/03/2022

Dear families

Who can believe that we are already halfway through Term 1!

It has certainly been a very different start to the school year compared to what we might normally be used to and I thank everyone for their support.

COVID-19 update

The Department of Education has released a plan for weeks 6-10 of Term 1 2022.

Much of this plan is very similar as the plan which was put in place for the first 5 weeks of this year. If things change, we will let you know.

Mask wearing rule changes

As many of you are aware some of the rules around mask wearing have changed across Tasmania over the past week.

Visitors to schools are no longer required to wear masks on our school site if they are only outdoors.

Masks are still required for anyone visitors entering a school building.

Weekly Wondering

This week I was digging up potatoes in the garden. As I was scrubbing my nails with a nail brush I wondered..

How can something so hard grow out of our soft skin?

How far back does the nail start under the skin?

Do everyone’s nails grow at the same rate?

What do you and your family wonder?

Japanese Girl’s Day

Last week in Japanese lessons students made Hina-dolls in Japanese class to celebrate Girl’s Day in Japan and hung the dolls from the Sakura tree in front of the school.

ひなまつり(hinamstsuri), Doll’s Festival, or Girl’s Day is an important festival celebrated in Japan on March 3rd every year (the third day of the third month) and is celebrated to pray for the continued healthy growth and happiness for the female children in the family. The origins of Hinamatsuri go back to the 1600s and the style of dress on the dolls date from during the Heian period (AD 794- 1185).
