World Asthma Day
Asthma is a lifelong condition of the airways. In Australia about one in nine people have asthma, one of the highest rates in the world.
At school, every child with asthma should have their own Asthma Action Plan. With your GP, develop or update a written Asthma Action Plan at least every 12 months and ensure your child’s school is given a copy.
Research shows that using an Asthma Action Plan can help:
- Better control asthma
- Reduce the number of asthma attacks
- Reduce the number of days off school
- Reduce reliever medication use
- Reduce hospitalisations
- Improve lung function
For World Asthma Day, Asthma Australia are asking people with asthma to complete a short 5-minute survey about their medication use, to help better understand and address the gaps in care in our community. For more information, visit:

Asthma Australia has lots of asthma resources (see image attached), including Toolkits and information on prevention on treatment.
