In 1/2 we have started a new spelling program in the afternoons to help us learn to spell 200 of the most frequently used words. We have personalised spelling lists made up of the words we still need to learn. Each day we practice writing our words in lots of different ways - with chalk on the ground, watercolour paint, playdough, pipe cleaners, writing with the wrong hand and colour coding the consonants and vowels.

This spelling program goes hand in hand with our spelling inquiry - at the moment we're focussing on the digraphs  ch, sh, th, ph and wh.

We are going to be spelling experts by the end of this year!
