Prep/One are always interested in having the opportunity to paint and we have done a lot of work this year on painting from our observations.  This week Mrs Steenholdt invited them to paint a closed artichoke flower. This caused a lot of discussion as children offered their ideas about what this was. Mya was able to share with everyone that she knew it was an artichoke and that she has them in her garden, thanks Mya!

The class did their first painting, we shared these and discussed what we noticed about one another’s paintings. As we discussed these noticings children respectfully offered one another ideas on how they could improve their paintings. Have a look at our results! I am so impressed with the respectful way the children spoke to one another, how carefully they listened and the improvements in their work.
