Grade 4/5 News

Grade 4/5 have been exploring idioms.

We know that they sound kind of crazy, but they’re sure lots of fun, when we talk to one and another and use idioms. They can really drive you up the wall…………

Here are some examples of idioms that we used in sentences. Enjoy!

# 1 “Look Dad! I got a new tent!” said Hannah. "How ya gonna manage in that? There’s not enough room to swing a cat!” Dad said. (Hannah)

#2 “I am so hungry I could eat a horse" said Ezra.  (Ezra)

# 3 “I have a sweet tooth!” said Lillie. “I’m sorry that I ate all the cake.” (Lillie)

# 4 “You must have ants in your pants Benny because you won’t stop moving.” said Quilla. (Quilla)

# 5 “My Dad has a green thumb" said Finn.  "You should see his tomatoes!” (Finn)

# 6 “ You are so annoying! You are a pain in the neck!” said Emma (Emma)

# 7 “Jason, you’re such a dark horse! I didn’t know you were so good at Maths!" Piper said. Jason blushed and said modestly. "I’m not that good, really!”  (Norah)

We had lots of fun with idioms. We whipped up quite a storm! “Time flies when you are having fun!”
