Principal's Report
What a wonderful start to the school year. Thank you all for making me feel very welcome back to Glen Huon Primary. I have already had the pleasure of meeting many of you as you have done the morning drop off or afternoon pick up. I am looking forward to working with the children, staff, families and the Glen Huon Community.
I would like to thank the school staff for all their work to get ready for the school year with setting up rooms, working in the grounds, administration tasks as well as planning for learning.
The staff spent the first 3 days of the school year working together to participate in Professional Learning to ensure as a school we are up to date with all department requirements. A reminder to volunteers wanting to come and help around the school you need to ensure that you have a current Working with Vulnerable Peoples card as well as completing the compulsory training which is designed to help us better safeguard kids in Tasmania.
Throughout the training, you’ll learn what to do if you believe a child or young person is being harmed. You will also learn what your reporting requirements are.

To help you get to know me a little better I have included a little bit about myself.
I moved to Tasmania almost 21 years ago with my husband and 2 children and have called Franklin home for the past 12 years. I started teaching about 16 years ago and spent much of this time here at Glen Huon teaching the Kinder. The past 6 years I have been working for the department to support staff around inclusive education with a focus on supporting students with disability in our schools.
Over the weekend I became the National 5 stand shotgun B grade gold medallist and have the opportunity to travel to New Zealand later in the year to represent Australia. So, all round it has been a lovely start to the year.
I look forward to getting to know you all over the coming months and thank you once again for welcoming me back to your lovely school.
Car Park
A reminder that we need to keep the bus park free in both the morning and afternoon. We understand the carpark is extremely full at the moment as we all settle into the school year but we need to ensure the bus is able to move in and out of the carpark freely.
NAPLAN
The 2024 National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) will occur in Term 1, from Wednesday 13 March to Monday 25 March 2024 for Years 3 and 5 children.
Swim carnival
On Thursday the 29th February Prep-6 students will be travelling to the Huonville pool for our swim carnival. Please ensure you have returned your completed excursion forms as soon as possible.
