Grade 5/6 are trying their hand at becoming agricultural scientists in Term One. Here we have designed out pollinator pals to come with us on our learning journey. These pals have been designed with the following questions in mind:

Can it land on a flower?
How does it see and hide from predators?
How does it taste nectar?
Can it move easily from flower to flower?

We will be building our knowledge of biomimicry to see how modern inventions have been designed to mimic nature. For example, did you know Velcro was developed after observation of the hooks on the outside of certain plant seeds that allow them to grip onto animal’s coats for dispersal. There are lots more interesting things we will be discovering in our unit this term so stay tuned.
