Principal's Report
Another wonderful week at Glen Huon Primary. This week I had the pleasure of putting up the campaign posters for the grade 5 and 6 students who have nominated for a position on the school representative council (SRC), it is pleasing to see that we have had many nominations. All the posters can be viewed on the glass doors of the hall. Below are a few examples of the effort put in by the students, well done. We look forward to hearing speeches tomorrow morning in preparation for grade 3-6 students and staff voting. We will announce the successful applicants in next week's newsletter.
Earlier in the term we advertised our Library Technician position as a contracted position until the end of the year – Congratulations to Leesa Blair as the successful applicant.
As the weather is changing from cold in the mornings to warm in the afternoons, we have had an increase in jumpers, beanies and other clothing joining our lost property box, there are also lots of drink bottles and lunch containers as well. If your child has returned home without their belongings, we might have them in the lost property box in the main foyer. You are more than welcome to come and have a look if you are dropping or picking up your child up from school, or they can come and have a look during the school day.
We will begin NAPLAN testing with our Grade 3 and 5 students next week. As a school we use the NAPLAN results along with other test results, Australian Curriculum ratings and classroom observations to support ongoing progress. If your child is in Grade 3 or 5 please encourage them to do their best when participating in the testing. Thank you for your ongoing support.
The School Association AGM and meeting will be held on Wednesday 13th starting at 6 - 8pm. The School Association Committee undertakes administrative and decision-making activities on behalf of the Association and for the benefit of the school. As a parent or carer of a child enrolled at Glen Huon Primary you are automatically a member of the association. We would love to see you on Wednesday evening.
