Principal's Report
We have had another busy week around the school with school and house captain speeches, voting and announcement of winners at our first whole school sharing assembly where we meet our new SRC for 2024. Congratulations to those who took the time to nominate, make a poster, write a speech and be brave enough to stand in front of their peers and read their speech. Well done to you all. Please see a write up from our Publicity office later in the newsletter.
This week we have begun our NAPLAN testing, with our Grade 3 and 5 students completing their writing test on Wednesday and reading on Thursday. We will continue with our last 2 tests next week with time for catch-up tests if students are away. Well done to the students who have already put in a huge effort and tried their best.
Last night we held our School Association AGM and first general meeting for 2024. If you would like to come along, we are always looking for more members to join us. If you would like to find out a little more, please contact the school.
Yesterday the principal position was advertised to fill this permanently, our new Chairperson of the School Association Laura Corbett will represent the school and sit on the selection panel, this process may take several months to complete but we will let you know the outcome as soon as we can.
From next week we will be moving to a fortnightly newsletter – we will trial this over the next few months, in this time please let us know if this causes any difficulties and we will reassess if this is working, thank you for your support.
I love hearing about the achievements of our students outside of their school day.
This week Lillie Ikin shared her wonderful achievements at the recent Little Athletics Championships at the Domain in Hobart. This was her 1st year competing and she received multiple ribbons. 4th for the 1100 Race Walk, 7th for the 400m, 7th for Javlin and 5th for Discus. She also received participation awards for the 100m, 200m and 800m races. I would be exhausted if I competed in this many events, well done Lillie. Last night she was awarded the most PB’s at the Little Athletics presentation night. Well done Lillie keep up the great work.
