Six Maths challenges to celebrate the number 6.
“Is there a way to use three sixes to make a seven?”
“There are six glasses in a row and the first three are empty and the last three full. If you only pick up one glass, is it possible to move it so that the glasses alternate - empty, full, empty, full, empty, full?”
“What is the maximum number of squares that can be made using twelve identical matches without having to cross one another?”
Ignoring the ‘order of operations’ what does “2 times 3 plus 8 divided by 7 times 5 minus 4 equal ?”
Now try it following the order of BIDMAS.
‘There are six eggs in a basket. If six people each take one egg, how can it be that one egg is left in the basket?”
“How much dirt does a hole that is 6 metres deep and six metres wide contain?”
