Grade 1/2 Report
Change Detectives
Class 1/2 have become scientists and have been experimenting with changes that happen in everyday life. Changes occur to many substances around us every day. These changes occur because of an input or removal of energy, such as removing heat energy to freeze water or adding mechanical energy to knead dough. Some changes are easily reversible, for example, a melted icy pole can be re-frozen. Others are difficult or impossible to reverse, for example, popcorn cannot be un-popped.

So far, the children have looked at the changes that occur to an icy pole; have followed a procedure to turn flour, salt and dye into playdough; and have experimented with cooked and uncooked spaghetti. What will they find out next?
