World Hearing Day - Tuesday 3rd March 2020
World Hearing Week from Sunday 1st March 2020
On World Hearing Day 2020, WHO will highlight that timely and effective intervention, can ensure that people with hearing loss are able to achieve their full potential.
Key messages for World Hearing Day 2020:
- At all life stages, communication and good hearing health connect us to each other, our communities, and the world.
- For those who have hearing loss, appropriate and timely interventions can facilitate access to education, employment and communication.
- Early intervention should be made available through the health systems.
- Children with hearing problems often fail to progress well in school.
- If any parent/ carer has any concerns that their child may have a hearing problem, you can refer your child for an assessment. You can contact me via the office or speak to your child’s teacher. Some things to look for in your child if you think they may have a hearing or problem include:
- Has difficulty understanding what people are saying.
- Has speech or language delays or problems articulating things.
- Complains of ear pain, earaches or noises.
- Experience discomfort, fatigue and a short attention span.
