Principal's Report 28/04/2020

Well what a day!  We have started and there are sighs of relief occuring all around the school.  Thank-you one and all for ensuring we got up and running.  I don't think I have ever been so busy!  I am sure it will settle as we iron out all the bugs and learn along the way. It is very important to be in touch with your teacher in one way or another everyday.

Do not worry if you are not able to complete the quantity of the work that has been set.  We like you are learning and are not sure what is the correct quantity for distance learning. It is vitally important to let your child's teacher know how you are going with the work load so that adjustments can be made.  Teachers will learn from you and your guidance as to what is manageable.

The follwing table highlights possible allocated times per learning area.

English/Literacy Maths/Numeracy Other Physical activity/Play
Kinder  Up to 2 hours per day Regularly through day
Prep-2  30-40 minutes 30-40 minutes Regularly through day
Year 3-6 45 -60 minutes 30 - 45 minutes 60 - 90 minutes Up to 1 hour

In an attempt to keep somethings as normal as possible we will continue to send out our newsletter weekly.  We will in the newsletter highlight student achievement that would normally be highlighted in our Tuesday morning assemblies.  I have printed off the current certificates for Mathletics.  These will be sent out to the students by mail.

Bronze certificates were earned by, Layla B, Rueben, Ally (x2), Harper, Aidan (x3), Sully (x2), Samuel, Poppy, Zach, Pippa, Mikayla, Johannes, Olive, Levi and Ashlegh (x2).

Sully also earned a Silver certificate.  Well done to you all.

Keep your reading journals going as rewards for the number of nights you read will still continue.  Send a copy of the journal to Jess Black at jessica.black2@education.tas.gov.au we will keep the class competition going as well so keep the reading up.  Results will be posted in our newsletter.

Keep an eye out for the weekly news as we will highlight our achievements and student work as we travel along.
