Making Mathematics
Cooking is such a great way to gain and retain Mathematical knowledge.
Here’s an inspiration to make our mouths water….
Our pâtissier chef had four different fillings – vanilla pastry cream, chocolate pastry cream, vanilla diplomat cream and chocolate diplomat cream. She made a double batch of 48 cases.
One third she double dipped with chocolate topping.
Two thirds she filled with the vanilla creams.
She had enough chocolate pastry cream to fill one quarter of the remaining eclairs, the rest she filled with the chocolate diplomat cream.
What would be your favourite combination, and if you shared ‘equally’ all of those with someone you love, how many of those eclairs would there be for you to eat?
Not all of us are the
but you could still make a batch of muffins with
4 cups SR flour ½ cup oil plus ½ cup butter
1 and ½ cup sugar 1 cup fruit
1 cup milk 2 eggs
and practice your fractions knowledge with your family.
Enjoy, Stephanie van der Schans, AST/Numeracy.
