Our class has been having a focus on what it means to be a good friend. When we discussed this in our class meeting the children came up with some AMAZING ways that we can be good friends. The following words are directly from the children. I am so impressed with their thoughtful answers and the vocabulary they are using!

• Use your manners
• Offer your friends help
• Look after new friends
• Make your friends feel better if they are sad
• Say hello and goodbye every day
• Say sorry to your friends if you need to
• Say thank you if your friend shares a toy
• Be kind
• Be thoughtful
• Be respectful to your friends
• Include your friends in games
• Ask them “Are you ok?”
• Care for each other
• Help them when they are hurt, get them an ice pack from the office
• Sit with your friend if they are unwell
• Give them space sometimes
• Let your friend play with someone else if they want to
• Always speak nicely to your friends
• Give them your smile

Prep/One have also been involved in the Huon Valley Council’s Heartfelt Project. We have been writing caring messages and making hearts. These hearts will eventually be part of an exhibition that the Huon Valley Council will host.
