Principal's Report

COVID Update

As we have shared on our school Facebook page, parent help and visitors are once again permitted within schools, however the following conditions must be met:

  • Visitors must be 100% healthy and well
  • Physical distancing of 1.5m for adults is to be adhered to at all times
  • Visitor health screening form is to be completed at the office.

As a school, we are of course continuing with our stringent hygiene practices with regular hand washing, additional cleaning and the expectation that students who are unwell in any way need to remain at home. We thank you for your continued support with this.

Kindergarten Construction

Work on building our new Kindergarten is scheduled to begin on Monday 3rd August. For the duration of the build, and to ensure student safety, the gate across the driveway up to the school will be locked at times of high student traffic including recess and lunch times. This will prevent contractors from driving in whilst children are running around and playing. If you need to bring your car into the school for a particular reason and the gate is locked, please call the school office when you arrive and someone will come to let you in.

First Assembly for Term 3

This Monday 3rd August will see us hosting our first whole school assembly for quite a while now. The following measures will need to be undertaken by any adults wishing to attend:

  • Please advise the office by 9:00am on Monday 3rd August if you wish to attend so that we can ensure we have enough adequately spaced seating set up.
  • Physical distancing of 1.5m for adults
  • A Visitor Health Screening form will need to be completed at the office, so please allow enough time for this to occur before the assembly at 1:50pm
  • Hand sanitiser will be provided at the entry points

We look forward to sharing and celebrating our learning and achievements.

Student Wellbeing Survey

During the week starting 24th August all Grade 4-6 students will have the opportunity to participate in the Department of Education’s Student Wellbeing Survey. This is an annual survey which allows us to find out how our students are feeling about a range of topics ranging from the amount of sleep they are getting, to friendships, to their enjoyment of school. Whilst completely anonymous these surveys give us the opportunity to see if there are any trends or patterns which we may need to address across the school. More information about the survey will be going home to families soon.

Lunch Time Discoveries

“Mrs Lees, Mrs Lees! Come and look! There is a great big, very dangerous, very poisonous caterpillar in the playground! Come quickly!!!!

We had a great time watching it, talking about respecting living creatures and then let it crawl into a leaf and put it in a safe place where it wasn’t going to get trampled. I wonder if anyone is able to find out what kind of a caterpilar this was and what the adult moth or butterfly looks like?
