Harmony Week
Harmony Week is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism. The message of Harmony Week is ‘everyone belongs’. It is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.
In Year 3 Humanities and Social Sciences curriculum (HaSS), children explore the diversity of their community and the different celebrations and commemorations, locally and in other places around the world. Harmony Week provides the perfect opportunity for Year 2/3 to meaningfully engage in the HaSS curriculum by organising some cultural lunchtime Harmony Week activities for everyone to enjoy. These activities will lead up to Friday 26th when everyone is invited to wear orange and the following activities will be organised. These celebrations create opportunities for all of us to think, talk about and recognise how our differences make Australia a great place to live.
