Principal's Report 4/05/2021

Kindergarten Playground

Our new Kindergarten playground is due to be finished by the end of this week. The space has seen an enormous transformation and I just can’t wait to see our students enjoying their new outdoor area. Work on the storage shed for the bikes and outdoor equipment has also begun today.

Sharing Assembly

Our next Sharing Assembly is coming up at 2:00pm on Monday 10th May. Please contact the school office if you are intending to attend so that we can ensure we have adequate physically distanced seating put out. Anybody wishing to attend must sign in at the office prior to the assembly. A hand sanitisation station will also be set up at the entrance to the Assembly Hall.

NAPLAN

Our Grade 3 and 5 students will be undertaking NAPLAN testing beginning on Tuesday 11th May. Students have had the opportunity to undertake a practice test which demonstrated the format and types of questions contained in the test.

These tests provide us with useful data about some of the areas we are teaching well or areas we may need to put further focus on. However, I would like to remind all our students that these tests can only tell us so much. They cannot tell us if you are a good friend, a creative artist, a passionate sportsperson or an encourager of others. So whilst we ask you to do your best, it is also important to remember that there is of course so much more to who you are than what these tests can tell us.

School Association

A reminder that our next School Association Meeting will be held this Wednesday 5th May at 6pm in the staffroom. Everyone is most welcome to attend and we ask that physical distancing is maintained at the meeting.

Thank You

We are very lucky to have an incredibly active and committed Parents and Friends group who are supporting our school in all sorts of ways this year. A HUGE thank you to everyone who came along to help with the BBQ here on polling day. Thank you also for your running of our breakfast program, conducting the Easter Raffle, running the canteen every Thursday and organising the upcoming Mother’s Day stall. All of this helps our school immensely and from what I can see, it is also a great way for our families to get to know each other and build friendships and connections. If anyone is interested in joining the team (as many hands make light work), please contact the school and we will put you in touch with the relevant people.

Cross Country Carnival

Our School Cross Country Carnival is coming up on Thursday 13th May.
More information regarding this will be coming home soon.

Department of Education COVID UPDATE

Coming into the cold and flu season, it’s important that we all continue to keep healthy and safe. To ensure we can keep on top of COVID and also cold and flu, make sure you:

  • Be alert to any symptoms of cold or flu that you or your child may exhibit
  • Get tested for COVID if you or your child have symptoms
  • Practise good hygiene, such as covering coughs and sneezes and washing hands
  • If you or your child do get sick, stay at home until symptoms has passed, even if a COVID test is negative

Remember, symptoms include fever, tiredness, cough, headache, sore throat, sniffling and sneezing.

To keep our school safe, we are still:

  • continuing with increased cleaning
  • making sure there is plenty of soap, sanitiser and tissues available
  • applying restrictions to large gatherings of adults and encouraging physical distancing
  • requiring visitors to check-in on our sites.
