Recently, students from Grade 2/3 engaged with a national art project to look at endangered animals from different regions around Australia as part of the 2021 Threatened Species Day. This day helps to raise awareness of plants and animals at risk of extinction. Currently, there are nearly 1800 species of flora and fauna, many found nowhere else in the world, listed as endangered or critically endangered under Australia’s Environmental and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). Students, through this project are able to learn and raise awareness of their local fauna and flora, while also looking at species and environments from around Australia.
