Huon FM Radio Interview
Yesterday our two School Captains had the opportunity to visit Huon FM where they were invited to present a report about some of the wonderful things that have been happening in our school so far this year. They talked about the Leader’s Conference, Japanese Lessons, Artyfacts and Smartbots, our new Kindergarten, Fire Safety Education and the Grade 5/6 Camp. It was very exciting to be in a radio studio and to be live on air. On Wednesday 24th March a podcast of the interview will be available for anyone who would like to listen. https://huonfm.com/about/podcasts/
State-Wide Moderation Day, Easter Break and School Holidays
A reminder that next week will be a short week. Wednesday 31st March will be the final day of Term 1 for students, with teachers from across the state participating in Moderation Day on Thursday 1st April. Schools will then be closed for the Easter Break followed by school holidays, with Term 2 resuming for staff and students on Wednesday 21st April.
COVID Stimulus Works
Beginning next week and continuing through the school holidays our classrooms are going to be getting a bit of makeover with all classrooms having new LED lighting installed and most classrooms also receiving new carpet, vinyl and paint. This has come about as part of government stimulus funding allocated during COVID to support local businesses. It will be very exciting returning to our spruced up rooms after the holidays.
Kindergarten Playground
Works on our new Kindergarten playground are due to begin during the school holidays. These will hopefully be completed by early May and then we will be able to begin planning for the official opening of this amazing new learning space.
More Late Bus Jokes
Here are a few more Late Bus Jokes we have had over the past few weeks.
Last week we introduced basic Japanese numbers to the children and started practicing addition through Japanese. These numeracy activities help build the children's questioning skills in Japanese, and also connect to the maths curriculum.
This week Yumi-sensei from JATNET visited us, and the children practiced their Japanese maths skills while connecting with other communities!
Mr Sam Ryan – Japanese and STEAM Teacher
This year's performance is: "CINDERELLA ROCKEFELLER" a humerous pantomime.
Dear families of children doing drama. A reminder that from today onward pick up is at 6.30pm. Children NEED something substantial to eat at break time.
Suggestions: baked beans/spaghetti (need a ringtop opener) leftovers (these can be placed in the canteen fridge on arrival at school, noodles, cup of soup/homemade soup, a toasty ready to go, I can toast them, party pies, sausage rolls, extra sandwiches/cheese/fruit/yoghurt etc. I'm happy to reheat and take care of their requirements, but it needs to be prepared by you. If at any time your child has forgotten their food they just need to let me know, so I can help them out.
Two requirements for drama that are a must: a named display folder for script, and a USB for songs, also named.
Thank you everyone
Cheryle
