School Association
Congratulations to Emily Hill who was elected as our new School Association Chairperson at our meeting at the beginning of the month. We thank Kobi Goodwin for her work in this role. Kobi is not able to hold a Chairperson role as she is a member of staff, but she is continuing as a staff member of the committee.
Grade 6 Combined Schools Band performance
We had the pleasure of welcoming the Grade 6 Combined Schools Band to our school last Thursday. It was such a wonderful opportunity to experience live music and also to learn more about the various instruments which were being played from the Woodwind, Brass and Percussion families.
Hurricanes Cricket Workshops
Last Thursday our Grade 1/2 and 2/3 classes enjoyed a visit from some members of the Hurricanes Cricket team, who ran some cricket workshops. Everyone had lots of fun practicing their skills and getting some tips from the experts.

ONE WEEK TO GO
We would like to invite parents and grandparents to our morning celebrations on Tuesday 24th August for Book Week. This year’s theme is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds.’
The staff at Glen Huon decided it would be lots of fun to dress up as Roald Dahl Characters. I wonder if you can pick which characters each staff member is going to be? Have fun creating a character from your child’s favourite book. You may choose any character from a book of your choice or you may like to join the staff with the Roald Dahl theme. We can’t wait to see all the wonderful book characters appearing at school ready for the book parade.
Parade will commence at 9:00am
If you would like to join us please RSVP to the office by Monday 23rd August.
COVID restrictions and QR code still apply and physical distance must be maintained.

Thank you so much for continuously supporting our school, especially through fundraising. Next Term we are hosting a Colour Explosion School Fun Run to raise money for the nw playground.
The big day is coming! We are so excited to host our Colour Explosion School Fun Run on Thursday 9th December. We will be looking for parents to volunteer their help on the day if you would like to attend. On the day, make sure your child brings a white shirt for the Fun Run! They will be covered in non-toxic, high quality corn starch colour powder from head to toe! We will be fundraising from the 13th September to 22nd of October. A letter with sponsorship booklet will be coming home in the following weeks.
We're Going Green! This year, we have chosen to reduce our impact on the environment and Go Green! For every $15 we raise, Carbon Neutral will plant one native tree or shrub in a biodiversity hotspot.
Win an apple Prize Pack! For every $15 you raise, you will receive one entry into the draw to win an Apple Prize Pack valued at $3,700. Raise more money. Receive more entries. Plant more trees!
We hope that you will use this opportunity to encourage conversations about sustainability and environmental conservation. More information about the Go Green initiative can be found in your child's sponsorship booklet.
