As we come to the end of another Term, I would like to wish everyone a very safe and happy holiday. It has been a very busy Term with lots of exciting things happening, but also a Term with lots of illness and so I hope that everyone is able to enjoy a bit of a rest as we head into the final term for the year. Thank you to all our amazing staff who give so much of their time and energy to ensuring our students have the best opportunities possible.
I would also like to thank the Parents and Friends for the ongoing support of the school with fundraising, Breakfast Club, Canteen orders and the Father’s day stall. All the work and organisation which goes on behind the scene is really very much appreciated.
Athletics Carnival
Our Athletics carnival is coming up this Thursday. Fingers and toes crossed the weather cooperates. Please ensure your children come with plenty to eat and drink as well as warm clothes to put on in between events.
If the Carnival needs to be cancelled due to poor weather, we will alert families to this via our school Facebook page on Thursday morning.
We are also still seeking volunteers to help out on the day with various jobs. If you are able to help at all, even if only for part of the day, please contact the school office as soon as possible.
Book Covering Crew
Thank you to these wonderful helpers who have been volunteering their time to assist in the Library with book covering.
Mini Olympics
A HUGE thank you to the SRC and Mrs Tucker for organising the Mini Olympics which the whole school enjoyed and participated in last Thursday. Each class had been assigned with a country to do some learning about. At the opening ceremony the National Anthem of each country was played whilst the class did a lap of the hall, many of them waving flags and in some cases with mascots...And then it was time to “Let the Games Begin!!”
Each class rotated around 6 different activities, encouraging each other, engaging in a bit of friendly competition and generally having a great time.
Grade 2/3 Tennis
Grade 2/3 Munro attended a Tennis Tournament and try-out day last Tuesday 14th September in Cygnet. Schools from a number of Huon Schools attended and a range of activities and mini-competitions were enjoyed.
Kindergarten 2022 and Pre-Kinder sessions
If your child is born in 2017 and is turning 4 this year, we encourage you to enrol them in Kindergarten as soon as possible. This can be done by popping into the office to collect the enrolment forms or calling the school if you wish us to email them out to you.
It is critical for school planning that we receive enrolments for Kindergarten as soon as possible.
Pre-Kinder sessions will be held on the following dates from1:30pm-2:45pm in the Kindergarten room:
- Wednesday November 3rd
- Wednesday November 10th
- Wednesday November 17th
- Wednesday November 24th
- Wednesday December 1st
These sessions are an important opportunity for children starting Kindergarten next year to build confidence about coming to school and getting to know each other and our warm and friendly staff. Pre-Kinder sessions also allow children be begin to experience some school routines and become more familiar with our lovely Kindergarten building and the school grounds. Whilst we welcome children to attend all sessions if possible, we completely understand if you are only able to attend a few of the sessions.
During Pre-Kinder sessions parents will need to stay on the school site and are encouraged to come to the staffroom for a hot drink and a chat about some of the things they can expect in Kindergarten, as well as ways that school and home can work together to best support our students.
Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Volunteers Needed!!!!!!
At our last Bunnings Sausage Sizzle we raised almost $1000 for the school in a single day!!
Bunnings Kingston has given us the opportunity to hold a second BBQ and we would love to get out there and raise more money for the school playground.
It is a great way to earn money for the school in the wider community instead of through parents and guardians.
We greatly appreciate the help of volunteers who donate their time to these fundraising events. Without your help these would not be possible.
The date is Saturday the 30th of October starting at 8am to 4pm. Volunteers can let us know their availability for morning or afternoon for a 2 hour or 4 hour spot.
Please contact Rebecca Triffitt for more information and if you can volunteer on 0437 749 540 or rjtriffitt@hotmail.com.
Did you know that over 80% of our students use the breakfast club in the mornings? We are finding that more students are taking up the offer of toast and Milo in the morning.
Breakfast Club is available to all students so that they start their learning day with a full stomach. Recent studies have shown that kids that have been able to access breakfast clubs not only are better behaved but do better academically.
The Breakfast Club program is largely sponsored by the school, the canteen and also relies on donations. In a week, we serve up 300 pieces of toast, 24 litres of Milo and give extra treats such as muesli bars, pikelets, grilled cheese on toast, eggs and porridge when they are available.
Thank you to all the parents and grandparents that have donated spreads, milk, pancake shakes, Milo and bread this term. The kids appreciate your support.
Also a big thank you to all the parents that have volunteered so far this year. It makes a big difference to our kids.
