Children’s University
Last Thursday 20 very excited students made their way to the Stanley Burbury Theatre at the University of Tasmania to participate in the Children’s University Graduation Ceremony. Glen Huon Primary School was extremely well represented with an enormous collective number of hours and learning undertaken.
Pippa was selected to deliver the opening address and I had many people including Principals from other Huon Valley schools comment to me how impressed they were with the way she spoke and the things she said.
Children’s University is a fantastic program which encourages children to take ownership of learning in their own time and recognising many of the wonderful things students are already doing after hours such as Guides and Scouts, Drama and Sports. It also encourages children and families to visit sites such as museums and libraries.
The program is open to students from the age of 7 and in the Huon Valley is supported heavily by Bendigo Bank.
An enormous thank you to Ms Dorian and Michelle, our school Chaplain for supporting our students each Tuesday lunch time to engage in this program and of course, a BIG congratulations to all our graduates!
Growing Up program
The Growing Up Program is currently underway for classes. Our school Nurse, Emma Middleton has run several parent information sessions, however if you have further questions please contact the school and we will put you in contact with her.
Below is also a link to a wonderful resource called Talk Soon Talk Often which provides excellent advice to families.

End of Year Assembly
Preparations have begun for our End of Year Assembly. This celebration of the year and of our Grade 6 students as they move on to High School will take place on Monday 13th December from 1:30-2:00pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and physical distancing requirement we will again be holding this event in the Huonville Primary School Hall. Despite the shift in venue, seating will still be limited and of course priority will be given to our Grade 6 families as this is their final primary school assembly. More information will be shared next week.
Menu for Term 4

Beef Lasagna
November 25th - Pizza
December 2nd - CLOSED (picnic day)

We had a total of 31 students raise money for the Colour Run. Although this low number is disappointing, these kids managed to raise a whopping $4090 for the school.
The students were given a certificate of appreciation, a chocolate bar and will be having a Slime Party after the Colour Run to say thank you.
Thank you to all those families that did support the school with fundraising.

The Christmas Raffle is well under way and looking epic. A small group of parents have worked really hard and got over $3000 worth of prizes for the winners. This is a raffle you want to have tickets in.
We now need our Glen Huon families to sell those tickets. Family, friends, neighbours, anyone and everyone. More raffle books will be sent home later this week. We want to make this one of the biggest fundraisers for our school and we need your help to do it.
As it is our last fundraiser for the year, the Parents and Friends Association and the parents who have gone out and got the prizes would greatly appreciate your support. If you can sell more tickets, or know a business that can, please contact the office to get more.
