Dear Families
Student Representative Council
Over the past week candidates from Grades 5 and 6 have created posters and prepared speeches in preparation for this week’s Student Representative Council voting. As we are currently not able to hold assemblies, our candidates have this week been delivering their speeches virtually. Each class joined group video-conferences to hear and see our candidates present reasons as to why they would make good school or house captains. I was extremely proud of each of them as they demonstrated all our school values of Courage, Growth, Aspiration and Respect, both in what they said and in how they undertook the challenging tasks of giving a speech to the whole school.
It is my very great pleasure to present…
- 2022 School Captains, Talara, Elsie and Ashleigh.
- 2022 Tahune House Captain and Vice House Captain, Talara and Angus.
- 2022 Mannena House Captain and Vice House captain, Amelie and Katie.
The results of the voting for Environmental Officer, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Officer and Grade 5 Helpers will be announced in next week’s Newsletter as voting had yet to occur at the time of printing today’s newsletter.
COVID Update
Thank you for continuing to be vigilant in monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms and keeping students home if they are unwell.
A reminder that Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT's) are available on request from the office, with schools currently being provided with a supply of 2 tests per student per week.
Please note that if you or members of your family are showing symptoms, tests need to be requested by calling the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738, NOT by coming to school to collect them.
New Kindergarten Play Equipment
Our Kindergarten class was very excited to arrive at school last week and discover the portable play equipment which we ordered late last year had arrived. They took great delight in unwrapping all the different components and have been exploring, climbing, rearranging and balancing on the equipment all week.
Thank you to the Parents and Friends for contributing almost half the funding for this great new equipment.

Notice of upcoming School Association AGM
Our School Association AGM has been scheduled to take place at 7pm on Wednesday 23rd March 2022 in the assembly hall (with COVID safe measures in place).
All parents are automatically considered ‘members’ and are invited to attend this and any other School Association Meetings throughout the year. The School Association generally meets once per term, occasionally calling an additional meeting if the need arises.
Currently we have no less than one and no more than 2 Parent Committee Member positions vacant.
At the AGM we will nominate (and vote if necessary) for the office bearer positions, which will determine our Committee Membership for 2022. Committee Membership is for 2 years. People can of course re-nominate after this time.
Please consider becoming a member of the Committee. Nomination forms are available from the school office and need to be submitted to Mrs Bender in the office by Friday 11 March 2022.
Alternatively, if you wish to come along as a regular ‘member’ this is welcomed too.
Weekly Wondering
This week I noticed that many of the trees in our school have very different bark.
I wonder why some trees lose lots of bark and others don’t seem to lose much at all?
I wonder why on some trees the bark seems to grow horizontally and on others it seems to go vertically?
What do you and your family wonder about the bark on these trees and other trees you see?
Bus Code of Conduct
The Department of State Growth (DSG) has released a Passenger Code of Conduct (the Code) for School Bus Services.
The Code sets out the expected standards of behaviour for students when using a bus.
It provides guidance and processes for bus operators and drivers to follow when a student breaches the Code, ensuring that all students, and breaches of the Code, are treated in a fair and consistent manner.
To access The Code, please use the following link:

Revamping the garden area beside Grade Two/Three
The area between the Grade Two/Three classroom is being revamped to become a grassy area to sit and have lunch, play or read. First of all we need to remove the blackberries and rubbish. Then we will sew it with lawn seed so it will be soft and comfortable to sit on. We are hoping to also hang some pot plants from the wire fence. Pippa and Alfie have already started clearing the area of sticks and rubbish. What hard workers! Great job ?
Come and check it out every day to see how it is progressing.
