It is my pleasure to be able to announce the following Office Bearer positions:

Congratulations and thank you to these people.
As COVID-19 case numbers rise again across the state, can we please remind everyone to ensure they are undertaking COVID safe measures, particularly when visiting the school
Parents and carers, if it is not essential for you to come on site, please refrain from doing so and please minimise any time spent on site. Please also adhere to physical distancing requirements, particularly during end of day pick-up.
That said, please continue to stay in touch with your child’s teacher via SeeSaw or a phone call.
RAT Tests
RAT tests continue to be available from the school. If you require additional RAT tests, please conact the school office and more will be sent home.
Vaccination is the best protection
Our school has many COVID-19 safety measures in place, but vaccination is the best way to protect your child from COVID-19.
As per Public Health advice, vaccination is safe and helps to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Your child will need two doses (eight weeks apart) to be fully vaccinated.
If you haven’t already, please book your child aged 5+ years in for their initial vaccination or second dose vaccination. It’s easy to book your appointment online. Alternatively, call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738.
Please know that all children, regardless of whether they’ve been vaccinated or not, are welcome to attend school.
For more information, please visit the Tasmanian Government Coronavirus website or contact the Tasmanian Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738, or Department of Education COVID-19 Support Hotline at COVID19support@education.tas.gov.au or on 1800 816 057.
If you need support translating or interpreting this information, please contact the Translating and Interpreting Service on 131 450.
Term 1 Progress Reports will be coming home on Thursday 31 March for Grades Prep-6. These give an indication of how your child has settled into the school year and are an important conversation starter, should there be any concerns. Please, if you wish to discuss anything on your child’s report, contact your child’s teacher to make an appointment. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child and having the school and families work together is a key part in achieving the best possible outcomes for children.
Weekly Wondering - Helping to Develop Curious and Creative Thinkers
The Weekly Wondering this week comes from our 5/6 class who have been 'WONDERING' about shadows.
They have been wondering about the following questions:
What is a shadow?
How is a shadow created?
What do you notice about the shape of shadows?
Can we have shadows at night?
Here is the thinking of some of our grade 5/6 students. Do you agree?
International Maths Day is celebrated across the world. Every year there is a new theme to flavour the celebration, spark creativity and bring light to connections between mathematics and all sorts of fields, concepts and ideas. The theme for this year is “Mathematics Unites.”
Grade 4/5 held their own celebrations yesterday. We started the day with changing our identity to a number. Then we had a Maths Snowball fight, where we threw snowball at each other. Each snowball had a maths question inside. When Miss Munson said “freeze” we picked up and opened our snowball. Then we shared our questions and answers. That was fun!
We then explored a number trick –
#1 - Think of a number
#2 - Double it
#3 - Add 10
#4 – Half number
# -Take away the original number
What number did you end up on? Try it again did you end up with the same number?
We played a game called “Shut the box” and other number games. After recess we worked in pairs to explore a variety of problems. We used lots of problem-solving skills. One of the highlights was making 3D models of shapes using marshmallows and skewers.
We read a story called “Plentiful” where a disgruntled magician, magically banished all numbers in the land. What were the consequences of this? We shared our ideas about what life would be like without numbers.
In the afternoon we looked at how maths and art work in harmony. We looked at and created some Fractal Triangles inspired by the work of Sierpinski.
Last of all we started a group mural based on cubes. When completed we will have a spectacular mural containing over one hundred cubes.
Overall, we had a great day! Maths is soooooooo much fun!
