2/3 Munro Performers
It was an incredibley proud moment to watch representatives from our Grade 2/3 class perform at the Franklin Folk Club last Saturday evening. They performed a song by themselves and then combined with students from Geeveston to perform a second item. It was also a fantastic opportunity for students to be part of the audience and see other live musical items. An enormous thank you to Issac and Ellise our Song Room instructors, and of course also to Ms Munro for going along to accompany and support them.
This week we were again invited to present a School Report on Huon FM. As COVID restrictions have been easing we were this time able to go in person and experience what it is like to be in a live radio station.
Congratulations to Elsie, Talara and Ashlegh our school captains who did a wonderful job talking about some of the great things which have been happening in our school.

The canteen is open Thursdays at recess and lunch selling snack items. We accept cash only at the canteen.
Next week our special will be Pizza!! So your child doesn’t miss out, please download Spriggy Schools (the orange one) to order your child’s lunch.
Please remember - order cut off time is 10am Wednesday. After 10am your child’s order will get missed which is not fun for your child or the canteen staff.
Thank you for your continued support.
Being part of a small community school means that the community is often needed to help at the school. We are always looking for volunteers to help with the Breakfast Club, canteen, covering books, reading to kids, helping at school carnivals or helping out with other things around the school. This is also open to grandparents, aunts and uncles, carers and friends. All you need is your working with vulnerable people card, which can be applied for online and photos taken at Service Tas.
If you can spare some time, it makes a huge difference to the school. If you wish to get involved, please join our Facebook group to stay in the loop of upcoming events, contact the school office or message Laura Corbett on 0437177507
State All Schools Cross Country Carnival
This Tuesday 12 June twelve students made the journey to Symmons Plains in the north of the state to compete in the State Cross Country Carnival. Each event contained around 200 students so it was quite the experience to be taking off from the starting line with more students than we have in our entire school, but all from the same grade!
Thank you to the families who made the special effort to take students up and well done to our competitors on a huge effort!
June 20-26th is World Continence Awareness Week
- Children usually develop the ability to be toilet trained about 3 years of age. If children aged 4 years and over are unable to be toilet trained or experience regular incontinence, advice from a health professional is recommended.
- The bladder is an organ that stores urine (wee). In Australia, 1 in 5 children have a bladder control problem.
- Signs of a healthy bladder-
- Empties 4-6 times a day; can hold up to 400-600ml of urine; may wake you up once at night to pass urine, tells you when it is full but gives you enough time to find a toilet; empties completely each time you pass urine; does not leak urine.
Types of incontinence in children
- Daytime Wetting- the loss of bladder control during the day, usually caused because the bladder is not working properly. It is NOT caused by attention-seeking, naughtiness or laziness.
- Bedwetting- this happens when the bladder involuntarily empties during the night. Most children will be dry at night by school age. Some children may experience accidents until 7 or 8 years.
- It is important to seek professional help for bedwetting if:
- your child starts wetting at night after being dry
- the wetting is frequent after school age
- the wetting bothers the child or makes them upset
- the child wants to become dry
- Soiling - is when the bowels are emptied in places other than the toilet. It usually happens because the large bowel in not emptying properly and the child is constipated.
Please contact me through the office or your child’s teacher if you would like any further information or advice/ contact your GP or look at https://www.continence.org.au for tips for parents and carers.
