Principal's Report - Sharing Assemblies
As we are once again able to have assemblies (with COVID safe measures in place) we have been able to schedule assemblies again. *We may also need to cancel an assembly if we have too many people unwell and will notify people via the school Facebook Page if this occurs.
The table below shows when assemblies have been scheduled for the remainder of the school year.
Due to our Specialist Music day changing to a Wednesday for the remainder of the year some Sharing Assemblies will take place on a Monday with class based sharing and some will take place on a Wednesday with the opportunity for musical items to also be shared.
We will also be holding a special Song Room Assembly at the end of Term 3 to share some of the great songs being created by classes with Isaac’s support and guidance.
Kindergarten students have traditionally not attended assemblies for most of the year as they can be overwhelmed by number of people present and also find sitting for so long very challenging. They will have the opportunity to be part of our Song Room Assembly and also our Final Assembly.

Growth and Development Program
Information is coming home today to families with students in Kinder and Grades 1-6 about the upcoming Growth and Development Program which is being provided by our School Health Nurse, Emma Middleton. The Prep-1 class has already undertaken the program.
Nurse Emma does a wonderful job of delivering this program every year and does so with great skill and understanding.
The Program is in line with the Australian Curriculum and supports our students to understand about their bodies and be respectful of themselves and others.
A number of parent information sessions are also being offered. Information about the times and dates of these sessions as well as the times, dates and content of the student sessions is all included in the information coming home today.
Please feel free to contact the school if you have any questions.
Prep-1 Exploring Art with Miss Bron
Over the course of the year each class is having the opportunity to engage in an Art program with Miss Bron. This Term the Prep-1 and also the 5/6 class are having their turn.
Yesterday the Prep-1 class was exploring SHAPE. They learnt about the difference between Organic and Geometric shapes and had a truly wonderful time creating all kinds of designs with shape.

We have had a few incidents where students have been sharing money and buying things for one another. While this is lovely, it is creating some confusion and upset. It can also pose issues with allergies. Please only send money with your child and make sure they are aware they are not to give money to their friends or share their canteen items.

Glen Huon Primary School Students
Do you have lots of Lego at home? Are you up for a Lego challenge? The Tasmanian Brick Enthusiasts Inc has invited all primary school children in Southern Tasmania to compete in a Lego Challenge that is happening this term.
Just to give you some idea, the rules state that:
- Each Lego display to be no larger than 52cm x 52cm x 52cm, or no larger than four 32x32 lug Lego baseplates.
- Each Lego display must be an original or freelance design and not made from a Lego kit.
- Some Adult help is allowed, but the Lego design should mainly be child’s own design.
If you are interested, let your class teacher know and it will be forwarded on to me. I will then be in touch with more details.
Children’s University students
An added bonus is that you can count your hours towards your graduation (up to a certain number of hours that I will confirm)
I hope lots of Glen Huon Primary School students are up for the challenge.
