We enjoyed a wonderful assembly yesterday which featured a musical item from each class based on the things they have been learning in specialist Music Lessons.
A HUGE thank you to Mrs Tollner for organising the items and also for the wonderful job you are doing in teaching our students music in Mrs Gray's absence.
Public Holiday 22 September 2022
As most people would be aware, Thursday 22 September has been declared a once off National Public Holiday as a day of mourning for the Queen. The school will not be open on this day.
Term 3 Parent-Teacher meetings will be taking place next week.
For any families who have not already returned the booking slip we strongly encourage you to do so as these meetings are such an important way of celebrating and talking about your children's learning.
Due to the Public Holiday now scheduled for Thursday 22 September, any families who had requested a meeting on Thursday will have contact made by their child's class teacher to arrange an alternative meeting day.
On Monday three of our Student Council Representatives visited Huon FM to present our school report. They spoke very confidently and enthusiastically about many of the great things that have been happening in our school recently. Congratulations to all three of them for representing our school so proudly.

Thank you for supporting our Book Fair. We raised over $2000 and have made a fantastic commission that we will be able to use to purchase books for our library and classroom. Thank you to the parents who helped set up and then serve children and parents during the week. We couldn’t have done it without you. If you ordered books, they will arrive in the coming weeks.

A huge thank you to Huon Aquaculture for coming along on Tuesday this week to cook us a truly delicious breakfast. Thank you also to Laura and Michelle for helping them with this. There were many excited faces including those of staff, and lots of exclamations of "Yum this is delicious!"
Huon Aquaculture are huge supporters of Breakfast Clubs as they believe that all children should start the day with a full tummy.
They donated everything! This included 2 sides of hot salmon, 108 eggs, 15 litres of milk, 8 loaves of bread and 2 tubs of butter which will be used by breakfast club for the rest of the week.
They love being involved in the community and plan on coming back again next year.
Glen Huon Primary students attended an Interschool Chess Tournament last week.
The students were an absolute credit to the school and themselves. They really made the day awesome in attitude and behaviour and sense of fair play. They made friends and were kind and supportive to everyone they played.
They had seven games and their team tally at the end of the day put them in fith place.
Well done all round Ms Munro.
School Survey for Families - Reminder
A reminder that the School Survey is still open until September 23.

Some students will also be invited to be part of the process, having the opportunity to talk about their schooling experience at Glen Huon Primary School. If you do not wish your child to be part of this process please let the office know.
Crazy Hair Fundraiser for Brightside – 30th September
The SRC are organising a fundraiser for Brightside Farm Sanctuary. Please wear your hair in a crazy fashion and donate money to help Brightside. Brightside is a registered Charity for animals set on 50 acres in Tasmania's Huon Valley.
Founded by Emma Haswell, and run by Emma and a small dedicated team, Brightside rescues and re homes hundreds of animals each year including about 300 rescued dogs.
Their mission is to raise awareness with regard to the plight of millions of factory farmed animals in Australia.
We Rescue, We Educate and We Advocate for animals.
We are a Voice for the Voiceless.
New changes to COVID-19 isolation
Public Health has recently changed the mandatory COVID-19 isolation period from seven days to five days.
This means COVID-19 cases can leave isolation, provided they:
- are no longer displaying symptoms on Day 5 of their isolation period, and
- have had no fever for 24 hours prior to Day 5.
People that leave isolation on or after Day 5 must wear a face mask in all settings for Days 5, 6 and 7 – even if they are not displaying symptoms. People are strongly recommended to wear a face mask indoors on Days 8, 9 and 10.
Students under the age of 12 and all primary school students are not required to wear face masks when leaving isolation.
To read more about this change, please visit the Tasmanian Government Coronavirus website.
For any COVID-19 enquiries, please contact the Tasmanian Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738, or Department of Education COVID-19 Support Hotline at COVID19support@education.tas.gov.au or on 1800 816 057.
