It is a pleasure to be able to share that Isabella recently received an honourable mention for her entry in the Prep-Year 2 category.
Congratulations Isabella!
Our next Sharing Assembly is coming up on Friday 26 May at 1:50pm
This is always a wonderful opportunity for students to build upon their confidence at speaking in front of an audience.
Families are warmly invited to attend.
Thank you to David O’Byrne who presented Glen Huon Primary School with new Tasmanian and Aboriginal flags last Friday. Our old ones had become quite tattered and so this was very much appreciated. Sam, who has been a diligent flag monitor for the past 2 years, and Casey, one of our School Captains, were happy to receive them.
You may also note that we had a Japanese Carp flag flying on that day. This was in commemoration of the Japanese Children’s Day. On this day special carp flags are flown representing fathers, mothers and of course children. Thank you to Mr Ryan for organising this for us.
The Kindergarten lunch program has begun! In Term Two and Three we will cook lunch together each Monday. This week we made Spaghetti Bolognese and it was enjoyed by everyone! Finn, Bridey, Cora and Hollie were our chefs this week and they peeled, grated, chopped, stirred, served and cleaned up. Meanwhile the rest of the class set the table, organised cutlery and bowls and decorated our tables with flowers and candles (don’t worry, they are the kind with batteries!), scraped their plates and helped pack up the tables.
Cooking together is such a valuable way to spend time with your children and there are so many benefits!
Why should you cook with your children?
- It is a life skill
- You develop adventurous eaters
- Health benefits
- Physical development – particularly fine motor skills
- Language, maths, science, creativity
- Builds relationships
- Builds confidence
- FUN!
