There is some very important information coming home today in regards to end of year reports. Please check your child's bag and read it.
On Tuesday 18th our school is having a jump off day to celebrate our amazing fundraising effort for Jump Rope for Heart this year. It will be a Free Dress Day with the theme ‘Dress Sporty’, there will be no cost involved.
At 10.00am the school will gather to watch the Jump Rope for Heart routine and then participate in some skipping fun between 10.00 and 11.00am. Parents are welcome to come, watch and participate. We will also announce our final fundraising amount!
Please Note: If your child has qualified for a prize, they have all been submitted and will either be received in the final week of school this year or early next year.
Hope to see you there!

This week is our last week of Smarties for 2018, and we'll be celebrating a wonderful year together!
On Wednesday we have a combined Smarties and Pre-Kinder party at the Huonville PCYC, followed by a cuppa and shared picnic in The Local Cafe rumpus room. We'll meet at the PCYC at 12:30pm, and move to the cafe at 1:30pm - bring along a plate to share, Christmas themed if you wish!
On Thursday 13th we'll have a bush playgroup party in our bush playground, and if the weather is nice and warm we'll bring down extra water to splash and play in, bring a towel!
On Friday 14th we'll have an end of year super obstacle course, always a hit! We'll do some Christmas crafts and decorate some festive biscuits to share with our families.
It's been a fantastic year, and we wish you a marvelous holiday ahead!

At our recent Parents and Friends meeting we decided that we'd like to aim for an Autumn Twilight Fair in early April, how exciting! This means we'll need to hit the ground running in 2019, so keep an eye out in the newsletter next year for the first Fair meeting, everyone is welcome!
In the past the Fair has raised $4000, which is fantastic! The Parents and Friends decided to spend that money on things like our wonderful timber picnic tables, sand for the sandpits, new library books, sports equipment, musical instruments and top ups to class budgets so that classes could go on extra excursions.
The Parents and Friends will be coordinating all fundraising next year, except the SRC's special days, so we hope to spread the fundraising across the year. All ideas are welcomed - if you can't make it to meetings please feel free to catch me after school or email me. We're starting up a Parents and Friends Facebook Group as well, to share ideas and keep up contact, let me know if you'd like to join!
Have a great holiday!
Luca and Levi had an interesting way to save their money for Christmas…
On the first day of July they banked $1, on the third day of July they banked $3, on the fifth day they banked $5 and so on.
On what day would they bank $99 ?
How much would the total saved be on that day ?
How much would they save by Christmas ?
A Christmas present was wrapped to look like this from one side
Arrange the numbers from 1 to 9 so that the sum of each row, column and diagonal adds to the same total.
Arrange the same numbers so that NO row or column adds to the same total!
Enjoy, and Happy Christmas to all of you.
Miss van der Schans
It’s that time of the year and in Prep/1 we have been focused on Christmas. We looked at the different reasons people celebrate and what is special about these celebrations. Prep/1 students had different thoughts about what was special to them about Christmas: ‘Going to Grandma’s for lunch’, ‘Playing games with my family’, ‘Going to the beach with my family’ were just some of the comments. Of course ‘Presents’ got a mention too! We all agreed that spending time with our family and special people in our lives was most important and special.
This week is also our swimming week – and we have to fit in practising for our end of year concert!
Our 2018 Marimba Mania group appears in the very short documentary that was made by the ABC as part of the 'Don't Stop The Music' campaign. You can find it on the ABC Classic FM Facebook page or click on the link below.
If you don't know, the ABC made a 3-part TV documentary and other short docos called 'Don't Stop The Music' which is interesting to watch (benefits of a music program etc). You can view Series 1 Episode 1 at this link https://iview.abc.net.au/show/dont-stop-the-music/series/1/video/AC1620W001S00
