Leadership Election
On Friday a large number of our Grade 5 and 6 students gave a speech about becoming leaders in our school. Each and every one of them did an outstanding job of speaking. Each speech truly connected with the school values and I know that every one of the students will commit to demonstrating these throughout the year. The following are the successful candidates for the positions.

It has the latest Facebook feeds streamed to it. It has a collection of our current and past newsletters that you can access. You can access the school calendar to help you plan for upcoming events. For class events we will also send home hard copy notices. If you have suggestions in regards to improvements please let us know.

Monthly Assemblies
Monthly assemblies are held on the first Monday of every month. To help you plan for the year the monthly assemblies are in the school calendar accessed by our website. I have also taken the opportunity to list them here for you.
4th March, 1st April, 6th May, 3rd June, 1st July, 5th August, 2nd September, 4th November, 2nd of December. Our final assembly will be held on the 16th December.
Another important date to rememember is the 12th of March. Come along at 3.15 and meet your child's teacher and visit their classroom to see what they have been up to this year. We are sorry that this is planned for a little later than usual but as you know we have had an interesting start to the year which has delayed some events.
Parent Handbook Update
I hope each family has received the Parent Information Handbook. This went home on Friday. Please let the office know if you did not receive one. (An amendment slip is coming home today.)
As mentioned last week I will feature an item from the Parent Handbook each week. This week it will be in regards to School Terms and School Hours.
Please note there is an amendment in relation to this information, the student free day after Show Day should read 25th October not the 26th.

Teddy Bear mania is about to hit Grade 4/5. A special delivery of Teddy Bears has arrived and are awaiting to be adopted by the class. The Teddies will be part of a Maths investigation titled – “Are all Teddy Bears the same?” The students have already begun brainstorming questions to guide their investigation? Stay tuned for more pictures and reports from Grade 4/5 as we move into this exciting investigation.
This week in Smarties we are learning all about colour - come along and explore the rainbow with us!
On Wednesday (9:15-11 in Kinder) we will be moving paints, playing with colourful bubbles, drawing with outdoor chalk, melting rainbow ice and playing with the bikes and sandpit in the lovely weather.
On Thursday (9-11 in the bush) we will be splashing with water, building with mud, pulling and climbing with ropes and exploring nature with all our senses.
On Friday (9:15-11 in the Hall) we'll be singing and dancing, playing on an obstacle course, reading a story about lanterns and making our own electric candle lanterns to take home.
This Saturday due to the very hot weather and high fire danger we will not be running bush playgroup - instead we will have our Saturday session next week on the 9th March, 9 - 11am.

Today your child has received their Home Reader Record Book. Please keep it in a special place, and record every day that you read with your child or they read themselves.
Each day counts, and every 25 days reading your child will receive a certificate, a fun prize from my special box and a point for their classroom - the class with the most points at the end of each term wins a $25 voucher to spend on a class party, activity or equipment!
I'd like to say a huge thank you to the wonderful parents who came in and helped cover the books today! You are all amazing! Thank you to Amy Schrodka, Bec Triffitt, Kobi Goodwin, Lauren Watson and Simone Watson.
Happy reading!
