We started Term 2 with a very busy week. Our Cross Country Carnival was held on Thursday and there was great participation across all grades. Maroon House won the carnvial but only just 125 points to 103. Thank-you to the parents who attended on the day to support your children.
This week we celebrated our learning at our whole school assembly. Congratulations to Shayden Davey who was awarded the Glen Huon Primary Aussie of the Month.
We are preparing for NAPLAN next week and parents of the Grade 3 and 5 students should have received some information yesterday in regards to this. We look forward to NAPLAN as it helps inform our direction for teaching and learning.
Our Grade 5-6 students participated in an excellent presentation in regards to Cyber safety. Please talk to your students about this presentation as it had some very important messages for personal safety online.
I look forward to more exciting events as the term progresses.
This year our school is the designated Polling Place for the Federal Election being held on Saturday the 18th of May.
This is a great opportunity for us to run a cake stall and raise money for our school!
We are asking for donations of cakes, pies, biscuits and slices, let's bake up a storm!
Your donations can be dropped off to school any time on Friday the 17th (in ten days time) - we only ask that you include a list of the ingredients, and that they're not decorated with fresh cream due to food handling requirements.
Thank you so much! This is a great way to help your school from home in your own time, and it's hugely appreciated!
If anyone would like to help man the stall, or help with a bake day in the school canteen on Thursday or Friday next week, that would be amazing.
Please contact Jess Black on 0408 579 858, or let Lyn know at the office.
Mother’s Day is a day honoring mothers, when you acknowledge your mother’s contribution in your life and pay a tribute to her, often with flowers and gifts. But of course, we should not need a special day once a year to do this. We can and should thank our loving, caring mothers every day, and do things for her every day, not just on Mother’s Day.

This month in Smarties our focus is on prepositions - positional words like between, behind, under and through.
On Wednesday we will be cooking raspberry muffins - lots of pouring in, on, over and mixing around! We will play with some sensory slime, the rocking bowl and the wooden building blocks - maybe we can build some bridges and tunnels for cars to drive over, under and through.
On Thursday we are going to go on a fungi search with our new Fungi Flip identification guide, I wonder what we'll find? Well have to look under, behind, between and around...
On Friday we'll play with the stretchy rainbow ring and read a story about Spot playing hide and seek. Then we'll make our own lift the flap book to take home.
We hope to see you there, Jess Black and Annette Carson
MAY 7TH 2019 IS WORLD ASTHMA DAY
People often treat their asthma as a short-term condition that comes and goes. But asthma is a chronic condition that’s always there, even when you don’t have symptoms.
An Asthma Action Plan is something developed with a Dr to help recognise worsening asthma and gives clear instructions on what to do during an asthma flare-up and should include instructions about managing asthma at the onset of a cold or flu.
Every child with asthma should have their own Asthma Action Plan. With your GP, develop or update a written Asthma Action Plan at least every 12 months and ensure your child’s school is given a copy.
Research shows that using an Asthma Action Plan can help:
- Better control asthma
- Reduce the number of asthma attacks
- Reduce the number of days off school
- Reduce reliever medication use
- Reduce hospitalisations
- Improve lung function
