Educational Adjustments Disability Funding
The Department of Education is committed to providing high quality inclusive education for students with disability, and supporting schools to become increasingly disability ready and responsive to meet the needs of all students.
In 2019, the Department is implementing a new Educational Adjustments funding model for students with disability in Tasmanian Government schools, which will deliver funding to schools from 2020.
The new Educational Adjustments approach will support inclusive practice in schools and align supports to the educational adjustments teachers make in the classroom to assist students with disability access, participate and engage in quality learning programs. There is a website that has useful resources and information in regards to disabiity funding for both parents and schools. Huon Valley Combined Launch into Learning Playgroup
Come along and Celebrate Early Learning in the Huon Valley!
Please come along and join in the fun on Friday 24 May at 9.30, as we celebrate early learning together.
The Schools and Child and Family Centres in the Huon Valley would like to come together to support each other after the recent bushfires.
This event will connect schools and young familes and raise awareness on the Launching in Learning programs and how they can support local families and children.
Local organisations and professionals will be available to share information about their work and supports of interest to families.
There will be fun activities for children and a shared morning tea.
NAPLAN Online
There has been a lot of media comment in relation to Naplan Online. Our students have shown great resilience and patience in the process. You should be proud of the way in which they have approached NAPLAN. It has taken quite a while for all students to log on to a session and they have managed to wait respectfully and patiently. The testing has had some technical issues but they were able to be rectified quickly and no student has been disadvantaged by them.
Kinder Redevelopment
The planning for our new Kindergarten is well underway. I will be presenting the latest plans to the School Association on Wednesday 22nd May. The School Association meeting starts at 6.00pm and will be held in the staff room. Come along and see the latest plan.
Our focus this month is on prepositions.
On Wednesday we will be making folded butterfly paintings, playing in colourful foam, riding bikes and building with the giant blocks.
On Thursday we'll go on our fungi hunt, to see what beautiful fungi we can find and identify.
On Friday we have an exciting excursion to the Franklin Palais Theatre, for a combined Huon Valley Launching Into Learning event. There will be a great range of activities to join in with, our school is running a sensory play area.
There will be a free bus leaving school at 9:10am, and arriving back before 12, or you are welcome to drive and meet us there at 9:30am.
It should be a fun excursion!
Hope to see you there, Jess Black and Annette Carson
Election Day Cake Stall and BBQ
Huge thanks to the families who baked goodies to sell on the day, especially to our young students, Ashlegh who baked a beautiful batch of cupcakes all by herself, and Casey who whipped up some fantastic scones!
Thanks also to Megan and Adam Perkins for running such a successful event, and Jess, Jacquie, Reema and Steve for all the awesome help!
As part of the Grade 1/2, 2/3, 4/5 and 5/6 PE program classes have been attending the Kingborough Gymnastics Centre over the past two weeks. Students have had a fantastic time during these lessons and have learnt some fantastic new skills. This program is focussed on developing students gross motor skills, strength, coordination and balance. Everyone is making great progress and are already showing an increased ability to maintain control of their body during the activities! A big thankyou to the Huon Valley Community Bank Branches for the kind donation they made to help make this program possible.
