I look forward to Pirate Day on Friday Ahoy me Hearties. We will also have the Huon Valley Concert Band will also perform for us on the day. A great way to end the term.
I wish you all the very best for the holidays. Enjoy the winter days. The coldness can be invigorating. Hunt for the special things winter can provide and look for the arrival of spring. I look forward to seeing the students return on Tuesday 23rd July. On Monday 22nd the teachers and teacher aides will be working with the Cygnet Primary staff in a professional learning opportunity with a focus on improving writing outcomes for students.
Because Term 3 starts on Tuesday 23rd July parents need to be mindful that this week is the only time they will have to obtain a family photo envelope from the school office. Envelopes can be left at the office this week or brought to the office before 9am of Tuesday 23rd July.
Orders can be placed online, each envelope is personalised with student name and unique ordering code (Shoot Key).
If you lose your envelope, your opportunity to order online is not lost. Come to the office and you will be issued with another envelope and your child's Shoot Key.
It is vital that parents have the correct money enclosed in envelopes as no change will be given on the day. Each child needs his/her own envelope if ordering.
Credit Card orders are strictly online.
As you would be aware Woolworths Earn & Learn has finished. If you have any stickers, completed sheets or incomplete sheets at home they need to be brought to the school by Thursday morning 4th July to be added to our total. The collection box in Woolworths has been removed. So far we have accumulated 25200 points.
Thank you for contributions, this will enables us to receive a lot of classroom resources for free through Modern Teaching Aids.
This is the last week of Term 2, and what a wonderful term it's been!
On Wednesday we will be having an end of term celebration - we'll be cooking delicious cupcakes, playing with slime and painting up a storm!
On Thursday we'll have an end of term celebration in the bush, we'll have a picnic and make hot chocolate on our campfire.
On Friday the school is having a Pirate Day with a range of activities happening. Smarties will not be running as normal, but Smarties families are welcome to join in with the pirate activities - there'll be pirate yoga, building a giant pirate ship with boxes, and playing pirate frisbee. There'll also be a performance by the Huon Valley Concert Band at 11:30am that you're welcome to join in with. Mrs Black will be running a session on the Science of Scurvy for older students.
Have a wonderful holiday! We'll see you back next term.
We all remember the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty and the Poisoned Apple…
This week’s great task for all those Numeracy Enthusiasts comes from a great source of brilliant problems by Dan Finkel.
Predict a possible outcome then try to prove your response with any mathematics you know, make a model, roll dice to trial possibilities, create a table or ‘growing’ tree diagram but please use only NON POISONOUS apples!
Have a great holiday, look forward to seeing your discoveries.

In our class we are in the middle of a reptile inquiry. We have learnt so many amazing facts about reptiles, each choosing a different reptile to learn about. We are starting to show our learning on a poster which we hope to display in the office area over the coming school weeks. We hope to teach you some of what we have learnt and maybe even learn some new information from you!
Smarties Excursion to the Marine Discovery Centre
Smarties had an amazing time at the Marine Discovery Centre last Wednesday! We hope you enjoy our pictures.
