I had the pleasure of accompanying our Grade 6 students who are attending Huonville High School next year to a Japanese transition program at Huonville High. This program will run for the next 3 weeks with the students attending the High School for Manga art and Karate. It is a really great opportunity for the students to become familiar with the High School setting.
Planning is well underway for our classes next year. We have had some new enrolments and that has enabled us to keep our six classes running meaning that our class sizes are quite small. If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Glen Huon Primary please let them know that now is the time for that to happen to shore up our numbers there is availability in all grades.
Our Final Assembly is drawing closer. We love to celebrate the year with a special assembly with a particular focus on our Grade 6 Leavers. All students will perform at this assembly, it is on the 16th of Dec at 1.00PM. As special guests are invited to this assembly it is important for us to shine. Children need to be in school uniform which is black bottoms teamed with one of our school tops, or a choice of two dresses for the girls. If you would like to access some second hand uniform please contact the office. We also offer a trade where you can bring in clean well kept uniform that is too small and trade it for a bigger size if we have any available. This applies to our collection of second hand items.
Can parents please provide current medical/asthma plans to the school, in preparation for the start of school in 2020. It is important for your child's safety for us to have the latest updates.
Please advise if there is no change to current plan.
This week in Smarties our sensory focus is slime! Did you know that slime has properties of both a liquid and a solid? Scientifically this is called a non-Newtonian fluid, and it's caused by the shape of the slime molecules...
On Wednesday we will have a go at making slime to play with, as well as catching some sunshine while riding the bikes and playing in the sandpit.
On Thursday we will look for animals that use slime to help themselves, like slugs and snails, and we'll learn about how slime is useful in nature.
On Friday we'll be playing with the balancing equipment, building our gross motor skills and having fun! We'll have a play with some slime, read a story about a snail who wants to see the world, and make some snails to take home!
We hope to see you there!

Smarties and Pre-Kinder end Of Year Celebrations!
We only have three weeks left for Smarties this term, and we'd like to finish an amazing year with some big celebrations!
On Wednesday the 11th of December we will be heading to the park at the Huonville Esplanade by the water, for some fun and games, and a sausage sizzle!
On Thursday Dec 12th we're hoping that the weather co-operates for our bushwalk and picnic at NorthWest Bay River, an idyllic spot for a warm summer's day!
And on Friday Dec 13th we'll take lots of fun equipment up to the Glen Huon Park and have a shared picnic with bubbles and fun.
All sessions are open to everyone with children aged 0-5, we'd love to see you there!

On the North Pole there are Elves and Reindeers rushing about in anticipation for the big night out.
In all, Santa counted 72 creatures and 200 legs.
How many more elves are there than this happy bunch?
Maybe the troupe of Grade 5/6 elves should join them after they have finished in our classrooms.
If so how many legs will there be then?
Look forward to your mischievous responses,
