LOOKING AFTER OUR HEALTH
Towards the end of last term, we had quite a lot of illness across the school.
Thank you to families for supporting us by keeping children at home while they are unwell.
This helps us to keep each other safe, which is important so that learning can then continue, but also so that our staff stay well.
This said, as school attendance is also very important, so we then look forward to welcoming students back to school once they are fully well again.
COVID 19 RAT tests
Please be aware that COVID-19 RAT tests continue to be available free of charge to families from our school office.
Please also be aware that some of the original RAT tests we were provided with at the beginning of 2022 have now reached their expiration date. Based on this, if you have old tests at home, please check the expiration date printed on the packaging and dispose of any expired tests in your general waste.
Our next School Association meeting will take place this coming Wednesday 10 May at 6:00pm in the staffroom.
Any parents/guardians are most welcome to attend.
Since COVID restrictions have been reduced and people are once again able to travel to see family, friends and destinations we have had quite a few families taking up this opportunity.
Whilst there are wonderful learning opportunities to be had in visiting other parts of our country and world, the explicit teaching and learning which occurs at school is very, very important to children's learning and growth.
Can we please request that as much as possible, these holidays and experiences are planned for School Holiday time.
The canteen is open Thursdays at recess and lunch selling snack items. We accept cash only at the canteen.
Next week will be the Cross Country Carnival so there will be a sausage sizzle.
Check your child/children’s bags for the order form, which was sent home today with the newsletter, these need to be filled out and returned to the school by Monday 8th. There will be extra sausages on the day for parents and spectators.

Grade 5/6 are off to a flying start with their i-Time projects. Throughout this term we will be engaged in individual projects of our own design. i-Time stands for ‘inquiry time’ and we have each taken a look into our interests and wonderings to form a question for our individual inquiry journey.
Some of the project questions include:
How can I become a You Tuber?
I wonder how I might hunt ghosts?
How was space formed and what’s up there?
Can I learn shorthand and morse code?
What can I learn from my Maori heritage?
Can I learn how to sew enough to make clothing?
What is the history of dance?
Can I design and build my own scooter?
How do I become a Lego Master?
How many natural disasters occur throughout the world and what is their effect?
Japanese mythology and the history of Japan?
How many different dog breeds are there and how do I become a dog breeder?
What different types of cancer are there and what are the current treatments?
How does your star sign predict your future and tell you so much about your personality?
As you can see, we have a variety of interests and many things to learn. We’d love for you to ask us about our projects, we’ll be working on them all term.
