Welcome back to term 2. We have enjoyed hearing from the students about the wonderful holidays. We have had a busy 2 weeks already this term.
On ANZAC day some students joined Mrs Tucker and Mrs Foggo at the Cenotaph in Huonville for the march, service and wreath laying.
Thank you to the students for joining us and thank you to families for bringing them along during school holidays.
Last week we held our welcome back to Term 2 and Celebration of Learning. Thank you to families for coming along. Families had time to walk through classrooms and join us for a sausage.
Last week our school and house captains Hannah, Scarlett, Belle and Tiarna went to the student leaders conference in Huonville. They represented the school well. Please take the time to read their write up to find out what they got up to.
Today we held the Cross Country. Thank you to the students and teachers for their efforts in setting up and running. Thank you to our volunteers for helping run the event. We also thank the canteen for making a yummy sausage sizzle for us to enjoy.
This term we are trialling a book and blanket session each morning in the warm hall. Students can choose to sit and look at a book under a warm blanket between 8.20 to when the bell rings.
As the weather has become colder, we are seeing lots of jumpers in our lost property. Please check your child's name is still clearly visible.
In Prep/1 we are beginning term 2 with a focus on retelling and adapting picture book stories.
We have created puppets for retelling this story and are beginning to adapt the story’s character in readiness for an exciting digital animation !!!
We can't wait to show everyone in our next assembly.
A big thank you again to all the kind volunteers who helped out at the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle last Saturday at Kingston.
These included:
- Rebecca Triffitt
- Claire Gordon,
- Lauren Asschers,
- Shannon Epp
- Erin van Nieuwkuyk
- Donna Kowaluk
- Bethany Hobbs
- Abbie Doyle.
We raised approximately $1100!!!
This event was another huge success and many shoppers were able to enjoy a warm snack and a cold drink!!
We would not be able to run these events without hard working volunteers like yourselves and the school is very appreciative of the funds that we are able to raise at these events.
On Thursday May 2, Hannah, Belle, Scarlett and Tiarna attended the leaders conference in Huonville.
When we arrived at Huonville High School, these are some of the things we did:
- listened to someone tell us about the values of leadership such as courage, integrity, respect and empathy.
- had some delicious morning tea.
- walked over to the PCYC to take part in leadership activities.
We also split into groups with different schools to create posters on leadership values.
Some of the other activities included:
- how to communicate well with other people
- how to work well in groups, which are both skills that you need to be a good leader.
We all feel more confident around other people after this and we all enjoyed our day very much.
Written by Tiarna, Belle, Scarlett and Hannah.
Drama will be returning in 2025!
There won't be a drama production for 2024.
If your child is interested in drama, there are some great local productions.
