Children's University

It was a pleasure to see nine of our students graduate with 30 hours of extra curricula activity from the University of Tasmania's Children's University.  Congratulations to, Ashlegh Wilson, Will Steenholdt, Amelie Asschers, Heather Hay, William Mackay, Clancy Stagg, Olive Steenholdt, Keira Anderson and Isaac Black. Sean Stevenson representing the University of Tasmania was extremely impressed with our students as gaining these hours during a year that has been severely impacted by a pandemic is an outstanding achievement. 

It’s here! The end of 2020 and the Glen Huon Parents and Friends Association is hoping to go out on a high.

We are wanting to make this End of Year Raffle one of the best in the Valley and in order to do that, we need your help! We know that we have an amazing assortment of talented parents and we would love to showcase your businesses in our raffle.

This year we are focusing on local goods, services and produce and we would greatly appreciate a donation from your business, be it a product, a gift voucher or service voucher. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, just so we can put a hamper together and show people what we have on offer.

All money raised will be going directly to replacing the school playground equipment that has been removed to make way for the new Kindergarten. This will benefit all the kids and will be in line with the bush theme of the school.

Wednesday 2nd December at 1:50pm in the staffroom. Last meeting for the year. All welcome.

We are rapidly approaching the end of the school year! This will be our last week of ordinary Smarties, next week will be our End of Year celebrations. 

This week:

On Wednesday we will be making Christmas crafts, creating beautiful potpourri and weaving with nature.

On Thursday we will be creating with clay, making gumnut elves and cooking damper on the campfire.

On Friday we will be reading a funny Christmas story and making decorations to hang on our Christmas trees!

On Saturday we have our last weekend bush playgroup session, from 9-11 in the bush play area, family welcome!

Next week:

On Wednesday we will meet at the Glen Huon Park from 10am - 12pm for a combined Smarties and Pre-Kinder End of Year celebration. We will provide a BBQ, salads, and drinks. Due to Covid we can't all bring a plate this year, but we'll make it special.

On Thursday we will have a picnic in the bush with lots of lovely fruits and nibblies!

On Friday we'll have an obstacle course and bubble fun, followed by Christmas biscuit decorating.
