I Wonder
I wonder is a phrase that you will begin to hear a lot at Glen Huon. We are beginning a whole school focus on inquiry learning and encouraging the curiosity of students about the world around them and their learning. Curiosity leads to powerful learning.
At the front of the school something is happening that happens every year. It is very beautiful. I am deliberatley not naming this happening as I encourage you and your children to discover for yourself. Once you have discovered this happening begin to wonder why it happens and how?
Assembly Monday 1st of April
Come along and share the learning of our students at our monthly assembly. We look forward to performing and sharing our work with you.

On Thursday, 28th March, Glen Huon Primary School will be holding a Ride2School day. We understand that some students live a large distance from school and are not trying to make travelling to school anymore difficult, so as a result we will be meeting at Glen Huon Cricket Oval and walking, riding or scooting to school as a group. We will be meeting at the oval at 8:15am.
The aim of the day is to promote active transport of students to and from school and we would love to have as many students as possible riding, walking and/or scooting to school as a large group. We will also have Shane from Bicycle Network attending the event and working with our class groups during PE on the day to teach our students about bike safety.

We've had an amazing month exploring the world with all our senses!
On Wednesday we'll be painting with marbles, playing musical instruments, listening to new sounds, trying out some new light table activities and playing with squishy sensory balls.
On Thursday we'll be listening to and identifying bird calls, listening for frogs after the rain, and searching for minibeasts in the undergrowth.
On Friday we'll play with the bats, balls and beanbags. We'll play some beautiful musical instruments and make some squeezy mess-free sensory balls - no glitter this time!
We hope to see you there!

My name is Emma Middleton. I am the Primary School Health Nurse for Glen Huon Primary School. I have recently returned from maternity leave, so would like to remind all families of my role in school and how to contact me.
My role includes:
- Kindergarten health assessments
- Vision and hearing screening ( all grades)
- Developmental screening
- Health advice and support
- Health education and promotion in class e.g. dental hygiene, growth and development and healthy nutrition
- Assisting schools with health management for children with known medical conditions and liaising with external services e.g. Asthma Australia, GP, Diabetes Educators & Physio.
I will be spending time with the Kinders and getting to know the children to help them prepare for their screening.
A health questionnaire and consent form for the kinder health assessment has been sent home to all kinder children. Please make sure this is returned to school ASAP. I cannot complete the assessment for your child unless the form is returned. If anyone needs help filling these in please don’t hesitate to ask me or your child’s teacher.
I am able to accept referrals for any health related issues for any child from any parent or member of staff.
Please feel to contact me through the school on 6266 6240
I will be based at the school every Thursday.

Grade 5/6 have been discovering relationships between numbers. Here we are looking for visual patterns that will help us know our number facts. We discovered that every multi-digit number can be taken on a journey that ends at a single digit number between 0-9. Pattern finding with numbers is a great way to remember them!

Could students (Gr 2 – 6) who wish to participate in our drama production this year please meet with me in the hall at lunch time next Wed 3rd April.
Parents please discuss with your children the need for a strong commitment to the process of turning up to rehearsals, learning lines and songs etc. and realising that it is a complete team effort. I take what I do very seriously and feel it works best if we all do.
There is no charge in attending classes with me, but there will be an expectation that you contribute to your child’s costumes later in the year.
I have not yet fully decided on the title of the production. I need to have an idea of numbers before I purchase a musical.
Please direct enquiries to me, not the school.
Thank you
