Wishing everyone a very happy and safe holiday.
Sadly we are farewelling Mrs Tollner and Mrs Yeates at the end of this term. Mrs Tollner has been filling in as our Music teacher whilst Ms Gray has been on maternity leave. Since the beginning of this year Mrs Tollner is also working 3 days at Mt Nelson Primary School and has decided that this is keeping her quite busy enough. Mrs Tollner, it was lovely being able to welcome you into our school. Thank you for the wonderful musical opportunities you have provided our school. The music sharing assemblies, Marimba Mania, the special recorder group, Final Assembly items and most recently the drama performance have been just fantastic and Mt Nelson is very lucky to have you.
Mrs Simone Watson will be stepping in as our Music Teacher for the remainder of the 2023 school year.
Mrs Yeates, you stepped into an enormous role within our school, taking on the vacancy left when Miss Webb farewelled us at the end of last year. You have spent the past 2 terms getting to know not only our students, staff and school community, but also our computer data systems, our moderation processes and our system as a whole. Thank you for the expertise and support you have provided students, teachers and families. We wish you all the very best for the future.
Mrs Kristy Woolley has won the Advanced Skills Teacher position in our school which was advertised earlier in the term.
Mrs Woolley comes to us with many years of experience and will be overseeing Student Support and Inclusion within our school, as well as taking on the Safeguarding Lead Role which Mrs Steenholdt had been undertaking for Terms 1 and 2.
We look forward to welcoming Mrs Watson and Miss Woolley next term.
Our NAIDOC Week celebrations began on Monday with a cleansing smoke ceremony lead by Ms Munro. Thomas proudly and confidently spoke a melukerdee Welcome to Country for the whole school as we gathered around the smoke pit and Aboriginal Flag.
In our front foyer are some wonderful paintings from our Prep Class created with soil from a place that is special to them.
We can’t wait to welcome our Elders into our school tomorrow afternoon.
Our Kindergarten class already started their NAIDOC week celebrations last week as Tania Steenholdt is away on Long Service Leave this week. They held their Elders afternoon last week and also enjoyed sitting on our wonderful new mat which we have received from Move Well Eat Well.
Hi everyone, Grade Two/Three/Four had a space suit making day a few weeks ago. We used lots of cardboard boxes, sticky tape and miles and miles of imagination. First we watched BTN about new space suits that are being trialled. They are lighter and astronauts can move about in them more freely. Then we had a turn at designing and making our own. We had to think about how you would put them on and what parts there were to each suit. Some of us made helmets and a few of us made some pretty snazzy shoes for space walks. Please enjoy our photos.

Thank you to Katherine and Woolworths
A BIG thank you to Katherine who every week goes to collect fruit for our school from Woolworths.
This is very much enjoyed by everyone in the school.
Thank you also to Woolworths for their ongoing support of the school; it is very much appreciated.
It is with great pleasure that I am able to share that Mr West our wonderful PE teacher has celebrated the birth of his first child.
Congratulations Declan and Laura, we are so happy for you and look forward to seeing you when you return from leave.
A reminder that there is a Student Free Day on Monday 24th July.
Staff will be undertaking Professional Learning on this day.
We have tried to keep prices as low as possible for all families to be able to access canteen. Unfortunately due to rising costs, we need to increase our meals. As of next term, all our meals will be going up by $0.50. Please remember all money raised goes back to the P&F fundraising and helps purchase items for the school.
Thank you for your continued support.

Our 2 house Captains, Marni and Mikayla travelled to Huon FM on Monday to present our latest School Report.
As always, having the opportunity to go to a live radio station and see how it all operates was very exciting.
Marni and Mikayla said, “It was interesting and fun. We liked all the big microphones and people getting to hear your voice on the radio”.
