The Department has been reviewing the Values which represent the foundation of our culture. These values reflect what we stand for, guide our decision making and underpin all aspects of our work.
Our previous values have been Courage, Growth, Aspiration and Respect and as a school we have used these as a basis for our everyday language, behaviour and attitudes to learning and towards each other, but also for recognising and celebrating students though certificates at our assemblies.
We now have an updated set of 5 values.
Our values give us a shared understanding of behavioural expectations and provide us with common language to overcome challenges and celebrate success.
Together in 2024 we will be unpacking what these mean for Glen Huon Primary School, live our values and bring them to life through our everyday actions.
In HASS the children have been looking and learning about the ‘Olden days’ through the changes to complete everyday jobs in the home.
We have used an inquiry focus to explore our first wonderings and thinking to develop, grow and change our ideas.
When we discovered what this mystery item was and what it did, we drew pictures to compare the ‘Olden days’ job to the ‘Today’ version.
We are continuing to be historical detectives!
Save The Date - Final Assembly 2023

More information will be sent home a little later in the term.
Grades 4/5 and 5/6 combined forces to participate in a Halloween maths relay this week with 10 mixed teams competing for the win. They answered a variety of questions. Some about the area of a pumpkin patch, how far a bat could travel at a given speed and time, riddles about ghosts hiding in a house, sweets shared amongst friends, meters of bandage needed to wrap a mummy and the date a skeleton’s broken bones would be healed if it took seven weeks to heal from a specific date. Each time the team worked out their answer, a runner had to navigate through fitness obstacles to their teachers at the other end of the oval to get the next question or be told to try again if their answer was wrong. It was fast paced, very high energy and fun for all involved.
Maya, Grade 5/6 - “I enjoyed working as a group to work out the answers.”
Finn, Grade 4/5 - “I don’t really like maths but I loved being the one to do the obstacles.”
Pippa, Grade 4/5 - “My favourite part was working out the problems.”
Hugh, Grade 4/5 – “It was a lot of fun. We had a few goes on one of the questions but it felt great to get it right in the end.”
Student Council Fundraiser and Free Dress Day
Yesterday we enjoyed a wonderful performance called 'Return of the Bully'. Last year we had the first in this series of performances called 'Bully No More' and next year we hope to have the final performance in the series called 'The Bully is Back'.
Return of the Bully showed how to stop bullies without becoming a bully in a fun, interractive way.
Elise - “I liked how they gave us advice like don’t react”.
Iris - “I think it was good that it talked about not reacting and making sure that you tell an adult who can help you.”
Emma - “I liked the bit about keeping a journal as a way of keeping calm”.
